 Hi, I’m Annelise Chin, a personal trainer that specializes in helping seniors and cancer survivors bounce back from health challenges with exercise. I think of myself as the super glue sticking you to your exercise routines so that you can stay strong for life!

My personal training clients continue to move and stay engaged with life - walking all day through Rome, going fly fishing, taking long walks at the beach, playing on the ground with their grandkiddos...

I had never worked one on one with a personal trainer before and I did not know what to expect. I felt a connection with Annelise Chin right away and quickly realized that she had a lot of knowledge and knew how to apply it to my situation. Very easy to talk to and an excellent listener.

 

When I first started, my goals were to become stronger and to work on balance and flexibility. I now feel much stronger and more fit and my balance has improved considerably. Stretching in focused areas has gotten really good results. 

 

I had a major surgery and recovery in 2020/2021 and she was very patient with my initial restrictions.  Over time I have built my strength and endurance back up.  More specifically, we have worked on stretching in the area of restriction and it has improved significantly.  I am very happy to experience relief in that area and continue to improve.

When I first started, I was hoping that Annelise Chin would not be a cookie cutter personal trainer (same routines for everyone) and would listen to me and address my specific needs. 

 

She has kept me motivated to exercise during my cancer treatments which can cause fatigue and lack of motivation. I appreciate that she maintains an ongoing dialogue to identify my weaknesses and goals and she addresses my unique situation of trying to maintain muscle strength while having no testosterone due to cancer treatment. She listens to me and adapts my program to my specific, and sometimes changing, needs.

My top health and fitness goals this year were to be able to walk on the Esplanade and get stronger and my biggest challenges were balance and gaining weight. Annelise Chin provided helpful suggestions such as incorporating balance exercises from the Physical therapist into the routines (although I don't particularly care for them!!) I appreciate how she begins each session by asking me how I feel or how am I doing - you listen and will modify the session based on my response. 

 

I have gained over ten pounds in one year which is what I have been trying to do for many years. I am pleased now that I can walk on the Esplanade from Avenue A to Knob Hill to Avenue F and back at about a 27 minute per mile pace. I use the cane to cross streets but carry the cane for most of the walk.

 

I am very pleased with her style - very positive - and sincerely caring about the challenges I have faced. Thanks for making a difference in the quality of my life.
